CEMA Dance: Stilled

Last week I had the pleasure of attending opening night of the CEMA Dance presentation Stilled. CEMA Dance is a new collaboration-based dance company founded in December 2013 by Brooklyn based dancer and choreographer Rachel Hagan.

The stunning performance took place at the Gowanus Loft in Brooklyn, flooding the open space with deep shadows and haunting melodies. All five dancers swarmed the stage creating delicate movements, making the entire performance one astounding work of art and emotion. Sometimes dance pieces have an opportunity to drag on, but with an hour run time Stilled left the audience wanting just a slight bit more. I was utterly impressed with the amount of dedication and passion that made its way into the performance.

Stilled left me having faith that there still are still young artists in this world who are willing to start a fire in the souls of their audience.  Although Stilled has closed, you won’t want to miss any upcoming work from this talented group. CGV
