What do a used car salesman, dentist, real estate agent, financial advisor, a deli owner and a music teacher have in common? No, this is not the start of a joke, but the start of the thoroughly entertaining play The Gig. These guys have been getting together weekly for years to share their passion – jazz. But after years of playing just for one another, they finally get their first gig in the Catskills and going “pro” is not quite what they expected.
The Gig is written, directed and acted by real pros. To watch these guys’ six piece jazz band play music –WITHOUT INSTRUMENTS – is by itself worth the price of admission. This play never hits a false note. By the time the show ended, my face hurt from smiling and laughing. This is a New York Musical Festival winner! LAR
