In As We Lie Still a magician at the turn of the century and his beautiful assistant, create the ultimate magic act – bringing back the dead. That is until something goes wrong. Twenty years later, broken, ill and alone the magician calls upon his “gift” one more time.
An interesting storyline and an awful execution. The play was inconsistent, as were the actors. I can’t be sure if it was due to a lack of talent, poor direction or the script, but twenty minutes into this 90 minute play I was already checking my watch – as were the people sitting near me.
But to give credit where it is due Olivia de Guzman Emiles’ (the playwright & magician’s assistant) voice was beautiful and played well especially paired with the Old Avi , Michael A Robinson. They were the standouts in an otherwise lackluster performance. LAR
